Genus/Species:Porcellio Bolivari
Description:
You will receive 12 isopods from an established colony.
The isopods you recieve will (not) be full two inch long adults, but a few large and mediums and small. No babies!
Ventillation:
As with most European species, good ventilation is a must. The enclosure cover is cut-up, covered with wire mesh to prevent outsiders from entering your colony. You can also cut-up the top-side of the encolusure if this is what works for your set-up.
Humidity:
About 1/3 of substrate is moist, the rest is bone-dry. With that said, please keep in mind that they must always have a moist side to retreat to.
Food:
Squash, zucchinni, carrots, I Feed these freeze dried minnows and dehydrated peas if you want them to thrive you'll do the same. Cuttlefish bone and leaf litter is a must.
Additional Care Tips:
Native to Spain, these isopods prefer medium humidity with large airspace and ventilation. These isopods have some very intense yellow colors with some very interesting patterns along their backs. They present sexual dimorphism, so sexing them as adults is very easy. Males have much larger uropods than the females do. At least 50% of the enclosure should stay completely dry for them to thrive. They should always have damp moss in the corner for gravid females . Adults can reach little over 30mm in length. They are one of the larger species in their genus, ranking them close behind the giant isopod pets! They have medium sized broods and breed well once established.
Adult max size:
1.5 to 2 inches male adult size, includes uropods(tails) andantennae.
